Word Search: comfortable reading, one word at a time

Select words with taps or dragging, choose the direction rules, and adjust the puzzle for comfortable reading.

Play Large Print Word Search

Make the board comfortable first

Large Print Word Search keeps an eight by eight letter grid. The difficulty options change where words can run instead of squeezing more, smaller letters onto the board. Use the reading-comfort controls to choose larger text or higher contrast before starting your search.

You do not have to solve quickly. There is no clock and no penalty for trying a selection. A hint is there when you want help, so it is reasonable to use one to learn how a particular direction looks on the grid.

Two ways to select the same word

Tap the first letter, then tap the last letter. You can also slide your finger or mouse from one end of the word to the other. The blue selection line previews your choice. A word found successfully turns yellow and receives a check in the list.

The letters between the two endpoints need to spell the listed word in a straight line. If a selection does not count, check the last letter and the direction before trying again. In a backwards word, its first letter may be on the right or below its final letter.

What each difficulty changes

Relaxed uses six words that run across or down. Classic uses seven words and adds diagonals. A little twist uses eight words and adds backwards directions. Pick Relaxed when you want fewer directions to inspect, then move up when those patterns feel familiar.

A useful search method is to choose a distinctive first letter from the word list. Find each occurrence on the board, then inspect the permitted directions for its second letter. Only follow the rest of the word if those first two letters match. This avoids repeatedly reading every row from beginning to end.

Longer words can be easier to locate than short ones because fewer positions can hold them. After finding one, keep looking through its highlighted letters: a word search can reuse a letter in another word.

Keep the puzzle you are working on

The game saves progress on this device. If you try to start a different puzzle while one is unfinished, it asks whether to continue the saved puzzle or replace it. Choose Continue saved puzzle to keep your current search.
