Start at the bench
Gearloom is a construction puzzle: you assemble the mechanism that solves the task. The tutorial begins with the bench along the bottom of the workshop. Use the Wall tool to build upward from it. A part placed in empty space is not magically fixed there; unsupported work can fall when the machine starts.
Build a stable support before adding moving parts. This makes faults easier to understand. If the foundation collapses, changing the gear arrangement will not solve the real problem.
Resting together is not the same as connected
The CONNECT tool joins adjacent walls at their seam. Two blocks can look as though they form one solid support while still being separate pieces. Select CONNECT and choose the seam you want to secure.
Next, select the Gear tool and place a gear in a supporting wall. Attach a crank to provide power. A second gear must touch the first at its teeth without overlapping it. Press PLAY, then move the crank dial to drive the mechanism. These are separate steps: placing a crank does not by itself make the machine run.
Follow direction before speed
Two meshed gears turn in opposite directions. Add a third gear to that chain and it turns in the same direction as the first. When a target spins the wrong way, trace the chain one connection at a time before moving everything.
Gear size changes speed. A larger gear driven by a smaller one turns more slowly; driving a smaller gear from a larger one increases its speed. Equal-sized gears pass the same rotational speed through a mesh while reversing direction. That gives you a useful first diagnosis when the output is turning but misses its target.
Change one part of the transmission, run it, and inspect the result. Several changes at once can hide which connection fixed the fault. A jam is also a clue: check overlap, support and conflicting motion before adding more power.
Read the goal for this workshop
Not every puzzle asks for a fast gear. Other tasks use circuits, lights or a ball that must travel through your construction. Read the goal before spending parts. A neat gear train is only useful if it helps the particular machine you are building.
On a narrow phone screen, turning the device sideways gives the bench more room. The on-screen tools remain the reference for the current puzzle. Use Clear Build only when you intend to start the construction again.
